Let’s begin with the beginning. What is “Art Basel”? Why is it called “Basel”?
On the 70’s, Ernst Beyeler, Trudi Bruckner and Balz Hilt, three gallerists from Basel in Switzerland started the “Art Basel”, an ART festival taking place in Basel, which attracted more than 16 thousands people on its opening year (1970). The success of the event has drawn to reunite artists from more than 21 countries. People were traveling to assist this special event taking place once a year.
Today, Art Basel has three hometowns: Basel in Switzerland, Miami in Florida and Honk Kong in China.
Art Basel in Miami started in 2002 and the success was unbelievable. This year, the Art Basel took place in Miami from December 7th to December 10th. But a few days before the official Art Basel begin, we can’t even count the events. Can’t imagine how it would be during those three days.
Anyway, yesterday, we went to the Context and Art Miami exhibitions taking place in Downtown Miami. Hundreds of artists expose there, such as SETH, the French Pinter or Kim Wong Eun, the Chinese sculptor. Both artists were exposed on NIL GALLERY, a huge gallery created by two Frensh Men (one of them is our Best friend’s brother). Their work is just amazing and they are a symbol of creation, sense of art and sympathy.
We let you discover the pictures of this first day. Enjoy!
